Pennsylvania Railroad

Class E6 4-4-2 Atlantic

Prototype Data: 

The Pennsylvania Railroad developed a 4-4-2 locomotive around 1900 and the final version of this class was the E6 class in 1910. This class consisted of 83 locomotives and were built by their Juniata Shops. 

The class was the largest and most powerful 4-4-2 wheel arrangement at that time.

This model is numbered 460 after the special Lindbergh Flyer that ran successfully out ran an airplane on a run from Washington DC to New York in 1929. It was train that carried the film of Lindbergh's honoring by Calvin Coolidge. 

460 finished out its career in Philadelphia to Atlantic City service into the mid 1950s.

Fortunately 460 was saved and is in perfect condition in the museum in Strasburg, PA.

This model for auction was built in Japan for Williams circa 1990.

I am selling this model for a friend. As an avid HO modeler, he delved into O scale 2-rail modeling with the hope of building a second model railroad in O Scale. A move to a new location has forced him to concentrate on a new HO empire. So I am selling his O scale models. 

My friend purchased this at a swap meet as new-old stock.  (No active O Scale layout was ever built.) 

I tested it with a DC analog heavy duty power pack.  

I removed the tender body to see if it was DCC or some other electronics. There is a photo of the electronics in the tender. Looks like a 4 amp DCC decoder.

I also lubed the loco.
