Eli Lilly & Co. Fairmount Glass Works Original Antique Amber Glass Rectangular 5 1/2" Apothecary Pharmaceutical Bottle Calcium Sulphide Original Label & Cork Stopper 1880-1910
This bottle is in Excellent Condition with No Chips, No Cracks, and No Fleabites. NOTE: The front label is intact with some staining. The Label on the neck has the lower part missing. This has the original cork closure with script “Lilly” paper seal still in place (rare to find intact).On close inspection, it appears to have the top half of the cork in the bottle. Overall all a very nice, clean, mold-blown antique bottle. The bottle is empty and has no contents in it. The mold line on the bottle stops at the neck, and the rim appears to be hand-tooled. The base has 2 169 F for Fairmount Glass Works, the Indiana manufacturer that supplied bottles to Eli Lilly during this period.
This measures 6 1/2" High x 2 1/8" Wide x 1 1/2" Deep.

Fairmount was a major player in Indiana’s glass industry during late 19th and early–mid 20th century. Its products are common in many collections of medical bottles, fruit jars, and general utility glass. Bottles with the original labels, contents, and corks (or seals) from Fairmount (especially those with early marks or unusual products) are relatively scarce and more desirable.Its history reflects broader industrial transitions: from hand-blown to machine-made glass, from small plant in a gas boom town to consolidated large-scale production, later acquisition by larger corporations.
