Warm greetings from Japan. Thank you very much for visiting our listing.

This is a very rare 1970s Swedish-made Hagstrom Swade Bass.
Serial 870040.
Since 870062 seems to date to 1973, this particular bass is likely from late 1972 or 1973.
It was only produced for a short period, from 1971 to 1976.
According to online sources, this is the model used by Fleetwood Mac back then. The sound and construction are different from the reissue models made in Asia after the brand was recently revived.
Hagstrom is known for its vibrant, bizarre-looking models, but this Swade Bass appears to be a higher-end model, with a sophisticated look and, according to my repairman, high-quality electronics from the era.
It features 2 volume controls, 2 tone controls, a 3-way pickup selector, and a 3-way tone switch.
Probably the bridge pickup has a powerful feel, and when combined with the tone switch, it sounds great.
It's all mahogany, with a 2-piece smartphone neck and ebony fingerboard.
The body appears to be a 1-piece smartphone with an arched top, but this may not be the case. Unlike current models, this truly vintage model features a special ultra-fast bolt-on neck.
The shape resembles a Les Paul bass, but it's slightly larger, thinner, and flatter, with a short scale length for exceptional playability.
The neck was once broken but has been completely restored by ShinsMusic.
The original Schaller M4 tuning machines have been replaced with Aria models.
There are some cracks in the plastic parts of the escutcheon, but the guitar is still in perfect working order and plays perfectly.
Due to its age, it shows signs of use, with numerous dents, marks, discoloration.
The neck is straight, with a 2mm(0.07 inches) action at the 12th fret on the 4th string.
It comes with a general-purpose soft case, as shown in the photo, with several broken zippers.
