Hohner Elysium II CF melodeon with 30 button treble arranged 12/11/7 with 8 bass .
This is a rare Hohner Club model from 1939. Build quality is superb throughout, with internal bellows lock.
Treble voicing is unusual LLM with no registers.
Bass is five voice including Helicon reeds an octave below typical melodeon bass. All 8 buttons are basses, there are no chords on the left side.
The right side is a standard C/F club layout. The left is:
F/C Bb/G# C/G F#/B
Eb/Bb D/A A/D E/C#

Reeds have been fitted with new valves at some point and are pinned on leather gaskets. Its original tuning was A=435. Notes written on the reed blocks indicate that it has been tuned up to 440, and checking with a tuning meter confirms this. The blocks also bear the date 9/2/77 which seems to be date of retuning. Reeds are Hohner “T” steel tongues on aluminium plates.
Everything plays, but it really needs an overhaul to reach it’s full potential.
