Recommendations:
1. Always test spray base coat before application, using test spray card included with every order. Metallic and pearl colors are affected by coat thickness. Spray light coats first, add more/heaver coats if needed for best match (see listing's pictures).
2. Primer, Base Coat and Clear Coat flow will change depending on the temperature. Lower temperatures will reduce drying speed, which may cause "runs". Before applying to the vehicle, test spray using spraying card (included in every order) to determine drying speed.
Instructions:
Surfaces to be painted are lightly sanded with 600 sandpaper or Scotch Brite pad and cleaned with solvent based cleaner or alcohol. If spraying new unprimed plastic, single medium coat of adhesion promoter is applied, before primer.
If spraying primed parts or over existing paint, primer is optional. The surfaces will need light sanding to increase adhesion and cleaning. Clean and dry surfaces are wiped in the same direction applying light pressure with tack cloth to remove small particles, before applying primer and/or color.
After cleaning and/or spraying adhesion promoter, allow 30 min to dry, cover with 2 medium coats of primer (10 min between coats).
Primer will take 1 hour to dry at 70 degrees and can be sanded if shape correction is needed. Lower temperatures will increase drying time.
Use color test card to test spray basecoat, starting with light coats. Light coats will make the color lighter; heavy coats will make it darker.
Spray 1-3 coats of color (to match existing paint) with 10 min between.
Color will take 30 min to dry at 70 degrees.
Spray 2-3 medium coats of clear coat with 5 min between. Clear coat is sprayed thicker than color coat to build gloss.
Full dry time is 48 hours at 70 degrees. Polishing paste can be used to polish dry clear coat to increase gloss.
