Note: For the Yamaha YZ250, wrap the large PVC intake fitting with seven complete wraps of electrical tape, increasing its diameter by 2mm. Insert it into the rubber intake manifold and seal using the provided clamp for a secure fit during the leakdown test. This instruction ensures a perfect fit and confidence in test results. Have electrical tape on hand for future tests, as no exact PVC fitting is available for the YZ250.

Feature

-- This kit provides all necessary tools for engine air tightness testing, except for a bicycle pump (used as an air source).

-- Test if the engine can maintain 6 psi of air pressure for 6 minutes. Avoid using an air compressor to prevent rapid pressure rise and potential crankshaft seal damage.

-- Use a bicycle hand pump, stopping at 6 psi on the gauge. Ideally, pressure should remain at 6 psi after 6 minutes.

-- If pressure drops below 6 psi: spray water with dish soap to find bubbles indicating air leaks. Investigate potential leak sources including clutch and stator covers.

-- Two-stroke engine leak-down tests are crucial for performance; even small leaks affect throttle response and power.

-- Ensure all air for engine operation passes through the carburetor or air filter. Symptoms like hard starting or power loss may indicate air leaks.

-- Leaks lead to engine overheating and detonation, causing serious damage. Regular leak tests prevent costly repairs and ensure engine health.
