VTG Sterling Watch Band Cuff Heavy Gauge Offset Kingman Turquoise Navajo Gruber

This is an amazing, large, heavy gauge watch band cuff from the 1970s or 1980s with an offset place for a time piece. The cuff was crafted using a heavier gauge sterling silver. The band tapers in the middle and at both ends. The edges have wider-styled cutout work. The two sides of the band feature larger silver dots, fan and flower applique, silver rope, and clustered/graduated silver dots. Finally, five oval turquoise stones with a slight nugget finish are set on one side.

According to the former store owner, the turquoise cabochons were sourced from the Kingman Mine in northwestern Arizona. They definitely have the appearance of turquoise that was sold from that mine in the 1970s and 1980s.

The widest part of the band is 1  1/2" tapering to 1  1/4 at the terminals.

The turquoise stones are each a little different in size. For comparison, the middle stone is 7/16" by 3/4".

The watch face connector plate is 11/16" wide, and the watch face area is about 1  7/16" across.

The inner circumference is 5  3/4" with an additional 1  1/4" wrist gap. It will fit up to a 7" wrist.

It weighs an impressive 84 g.

The artist's hallmark is "EG" which, according to the former store owner, is the hallmark for noted Navajo silversmith Edison Gruber, who started creating jewelry in the early 1970s.

This watch band is new old stock, a piece coming from prior store inventory. Previously displayed but not sold. It's fascinating to think that this piece is 40 to 50 years old and has never been put to use on someone's wrist!
