8vo. In two volumes. [4], ii, 479pp, [1]; iv, 445pp, [1]. With an engraved landscape frontispiece to both volumes, and several clippings relating to Bristolian history, from bookseller's catalogues and newspapers, both tipped-in and loosely inserted, to each volume's rear. Rubbed and marked, with surface wear to boards, spines lightly sunned. Scattered spotting to both volumes.
The first edition of a comprehensive history of Bristol written in collaboration by two British historiographers, with volume i being the work of Irish topographer John Corry (fl. 1825), and volume ii that of English miscellaneous writer John Evans (died 1832). Adapted and expanded from Evans' recent Picture of Bristol; … including Biographical Notices of Eminent Natives (1814), the work retains his biographical sketches; Corry went on to compose a similar history of Macclesfield (1817) and the ambitious History of Lancashire (1825).
