The 2009–10 Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team, coached by Bill Self, enjoyed one of the most dominant regular seasons in school history, finishing with a 33–3 overall record and 15–1 in Big 12 play, which earned them both the Big 12 regular-season title and the Big 12 Tournament championship. They spent much of the season ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll and secured the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Despite their excellence and a roster featuring future NBA talent like Sherron Collins, Xavier Henry, Marcus Morris, Cole Aldrich, and Tyshawn Taylor, the Jayhawks were upset in the Round of 32 by #9 Northern Iowa, ending their tournament run earlier than expected and preventing a deeper march toward a national title. Kansas nonetheless finished the season with a prestigious record and conference championships under Self’s leadership
