This 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Convertible is a well preserved survivor with great options that can be shown or enjoyed, or both! Following the major stylistic redesigns in 1949 and the tasteful mechanical updates in 1950, Chevrolet appeared to take a breather in the 1951 model year. Introduced to Chevy dealers on December 9, 1950, the GM marque offered two series of passenger cars in 1951, the entry-level Special and the higher-trimmed Deluxe series, and both the Special and the Deluxe had two sub-series, the Styleline and the Fleetline. Furthermore, Chevrolet offered 14 different body styles in its passenger car lines but only the Styleline Deluxe came with a convertible option. 1951 also marked the first time that Chevrolet models' MSRP eclipsed the $2,000 mark, with the Styleline Deluxe Convertible having an original MSRP of $2,030 not including items such as wide whitewall tires, defroster, or even turn signals. Vehicle Description

The biggest change for the 1951 Chevrolet models was most evident in the updated front end treatment with the oblong parking lights relocated to the lower grille opening as well as dual horizontal bars in the Deluxe's redesigned grille complete with Chevrolet script. Down the sides, new-look stainless belt line molding started above the front wheel wheel openings and ran towards the rear on the doors, and for the Deluxe models, featured special "Deluxe" badging. The rear end was also lightly updated in '51, now sporting smaller squarer taillight lenses that gave the new Chevys a modernized look. The Deluxe also came equipped with several exterior options as standard equipment such as rear wheel well gravel guards and even painted fender skirts. The Styleline Deluxe Convertible models were also fairly plush on the inside with two-tone leather interiors and color-matched carpeting. In total, Chevrolet produced only 20,172 Convertibles in the 1951 model year, which makes this particular classic Chevy a pretty rare piece of post-war automotive history. This particular example comes to us from an esteemed southern-based collection that took great care of the car while under their stewardship. Under the hood on this '51 Chevy is a 216.5 Cubic Inch Inline 6 cylinder engine fed by a single barrel carburetor that together were said to have produced 92 horsepower when new. The 217 Straight 6 is backed by a 3 speed manual transmission that is shifted via a column-mounted "3-on-the-tree" shifter. Exhaust exits this Styleline's 6 cylinder powerplant via a single exhaust setup that generates a terrific throaty sound out the rear. This 1951 Chevrolet Deluxe is equipped with fantastic options! The tan Haartzcloth power convertible top appears to have been replaced and is operated easily with the push or pull of a button. Riding on a set of wide whitewall tires mounted on steel wheels and accented with optional full wheel discs, this '51 Chevrolet has a fantastic look whether you're showing it at the local car show or you're cruising down the road. A chrome driver's side mirror is another fantastic feature on this post-war Chevy since it greatly improves visibility while squeezing into a tight parking space and while making the occasional lane change on an afternoon cruise. The front and rear chrome bumpers are also accented with optional front and rear chrome bumper guards that elevate the exterior appearance of this wonderful piece of Americana. Further enhancing the luxurious exterior look of this 1951 Chevy is an optional Impala-style hood ornament. The exterior of this 1951 Styleline Deluxe Convertible is correctly finished in Maryland Black paint, just how it came when it rolled off the Tarrytown, New York, assembly line back in May of 1951. The interior of this 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Convertible is gorgeous! The front and rear bench seats have been correctly reupholstered in Red leather that serves as a stylish contrast to the Maryland Black exterior. The recently replaced red carpeting, grey and red two-tone door panels, and matching steering wheel and dash all retain a nice stock appearance. Instrumentation includes a 100 MPH speedometer, battery gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge. The dash is finished off with a locking glovebox and clock, along with an under dash-mounted defroster. Whether you're adding to your existing Blue Bowtie collection or you're buying your very first classic car, this 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Convertible would make an excellent choice.
