The English new wave band Bow Wow Wow was founded in 1980 by Malcolm McLaren. McLaren was an impresario and best known as the manager of the New York Dolls and the Sex Pistols. He recruited members of Adam and the Ants to support 13-year-old singer Annabella Lwin. A year later they released their debut album on RCA Records entitled See Jungle! Lake Jungle! Go Join Your Gang Yeah! City All Over! Go Ape Crazy!" In support of the album, the band played in the USA for The Pretenders and The Police, in Europe for Queen and in Japan for Madness. Vive Le Rock named the album one of the 50 best new wave albums, and the single "Go Wild In The Country" was their first top 10 hit in the UK.
The cover photo shows the band recreating the painting "Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe" by Édouard Manet, in which 14-year-old Annabella poses naked. The photo caused outrage, but the investigation launched by Scotland Yard came to nothing.
“See Jungle! Lake Jungle! Go Join Your Gang Yeah! City All Over! Go Ape Crazy!" is available in a limited edition of 2000 individually numbered copies on green & yellow marbled vinyl.
