A perfect symbiosis of metal and classic!

The Swedish symphonic metal legends Therion release another masterpiece with their new studio album "Leviathan III" and complete their "Leviathan" trilogy. The band around mastermind Christofer Johnsson, founded over 35 years ago, was among the first to combine metal with orchestral elements in the 90s and is now considered one of the most style-defining acts in symphonic metal. Now Therion are continuing their cross-stylistic musical journey with the third part of the “Leviathan” trilogy, which is being released via Napalm Records.

The album begins with the powerful “Ninkigal,” which catapults the listener directly into Therion’s musical universe. The sophisticated composition is complemented by Lori Lewis' dramatic operatic singing, which alternates with dark growling and is underlined by catchy melodies. This is followed by “Ruler of Tamag,” which enchants the listener with an acoustic guitar intro and female vocals before the track transitions into a dark and heavy passage that builds up to a cinematic symphony.

Therion have always been characterized by their intrepid courage to combine a wide variety of musical styles and so on "Leviathan III" classic symphonic metal is interwoven with melodic death metal, neo-classical elements and power metal, which challenges their listeners, for example, on "Twilight of the Gods". The song is a wall of epic symphonic metal and always finds a balanced mix between guitars, choir and orchestra. “An Unsung Lament” and “Baccanale” rush forward at high speed and impress with rousing melodies that create a fascinating mixture with classic rock elements, captivating lyrics and choirs. The lively "Maleficium" delivers an exciting duet between Thomas Vikström and Lori Lewis, while the psychedelic "Ayahuasca" takes you into strange worlds with the hypnotizing male choir. Tracks like the fast-paced "Nummo" offer Therion's core competence with hard guitar explosions, first-class classical vocals and choirs.

With the wide variety of different musical styles and elements represented on »Leviathan III«, Therion once again blurs the boundaries between metal and classical music. With this opus, mastermind Christofer Johnsson not only proves his impressive musical talent but also that Therion have perfected the combination of versatile styles and are rightly considered one of the leading representatives of symphonic metal.
