A magnificent terracotta sculpture depicting the infant Bacchus with a bunch of grapes and a cup, signed "B. Rezl," dating to the early 20th century. Beautiful antique patina. Bohumil Rezl is a renowned Czechoslovakian artist born in 1899 and died in 1963.
Useful information for the evaluation of the object :
In our online searches, we found that the artist has achieved numerous auction results, some of which have reached considerable prices. A similarly styled nude sculpture, also in terracotta, sold for €600, excluding 25-30% commission, at Bertolami Fine Art in auction 77, "Decorative Arts," lot 15, "B. REZL - NUDE." We then found another sculpture sold for €700, again excluding fees, at Meeting Art in Vercelli, Italy, at the auction of May 8, 2011, Lot No. 598, entitled "Putto with Doves." A small pair of bronze sculptures sold for €750, again excluding fees, at Bernaerts Auctioneers in Antwerp, Belgium, at the auction of March 20, 2018, Lot No. 203, entitled "Pair of Greenhouse-Bookcases of a Woman Hanging Against a Wall." Finally, we found the same sculpture, offered by a private individual in Czechoslovakia for 8,500 Kc, equivalent to €330, which in Czechoslovakia is about half the average salary, a remarkable price; compared to Italy, it is as if the asking price were €600-700. All this to give an idea of ​​the importance of the artist Bohumil Rezl.
Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
The sculptor Bohumil REZL (September 7, 1899) was born in Czechoslovakia and moved to Paris in 1926. He settled in Villenauxe-la-Grande (in the Aube department, 70 km from Paris) and worked in his own faience factory until 1951. He was an astronomer and spoke several languages. He boasts numerous auction results and numerous collectors around the world.

The price we ask is always the lowest possible considering how much was paid for the object and the eBay commissions (for the sale, payment and any currency exchange: from a minimum of 15% to a maximum of 21%, depending on the country in which the object was sold) because we prefer to retain many customers by earning less on the single object, focusing on quantity.

For each object there may be multiple advertisements in different countries: USA, Italy, France, United Kingdom, etc. Any price differences are due only to changes in the exchange rate of the various currencies between when we made the advertisement and when you see it.
