By the 1960s, Amy Vanderbilt had surpassed Emily Post as the leading authority on etiquette and social manners. This personally branded series of instructional booklets provides a fascinating time capsule that reflects the social expectations and aspirations placed on women during the 1960s. Authored by experts in their fields, each includes instruction, photos, and artwork that capture the mood of this pivotal era.
This communication, socializing and community lot includes the following titles. (Dates reflect copyright shown in each book.)
- You and Your Community by Joan Cook (1968)
- How to Develop Poise and Self-Confidence Michael Drury (1963)
- How to Be a More Interesting Woman by Barbara Wedgwood (1965)
- How to Get Along with People by Michael Drury (1964)
Condition: Booklets are generally excellent especially given their 50+ year age. These are complete without tears, stains, or odors. Most show minor scuffs to covers, spines, edges, and corner points, along with some small crease indentations on the covers. 'Interesting' has corner crease on page 19/20. 'Get Along' has pencil marks on inside front cover and a handful of pages.
