WEDGWOOD JASPERWARE TRINKET DISH & ASHTRAY SET

This small matched set consists of two authentic pieces of vintage Wedgwood Jasperware: one in black basalt and the other in blue Jasper. Both items are unglazed stoneware with raised white classical motifs, characteristic of Wedgwood production during the mid-20th century.

The blue heart-shaped dish features a central neoclassical relief of a standing and seated figure, framed by a continuous white laurel border. The reverse is clearly impressed with the standard mark WEDGWOOD – MADE IN ENGLAND, indicating production after 1941 and before the late twentieth century. The quality of the applied reliefs and matte surface is consistent with typical Wedgwood output during this era. The dish displays no visible cracks, chips, or structural wear, and the decorative details remain crisp. At approximately five inches across, this size and shape are commonly sold as trinket or pin dishes.

The black basalt round dish, functioning historically as a small ashtray or decorative catchall, shows a raised white grapevine and leaf border. This classical vine rim appears on numerous late-20th-century Wedgwood pieces produced for giftware and smoking accessories. The underside bears a crisp impressed WEDGWOOD – MADE IN ENGLAND mark consistent with the production period. The piece shows typical minor surface rubbing expected of basalt Jasperware but no structural damage, cracks, or losses to the applied ornamentation.

Both items retain strong visual contrast between the matte body and the applied white reliefs, indicating careful storage and minimal handling. As separate pieces, they appeal to collectors seeking mid-century Jasperware accents; as a pair, they offer additional decorative value due to their complementary colors and classical themes.
