A 4 heller patriotic stamp from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, issued in 1913.
This stamp was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Wars of Liberation (1813-1815), in which an alliance of European powers, including the Austrian Empire, defeated Napoleon Bonaparte. The celebrations, particularly of the Battle of Leipzig, were a major patriotic event across Germany and Austria. The design features the Austrian imperial eagle, the personal motto of Emperor Franz Joseph I ("Viribus Unitis" - With United Forces), and the coat of arms of Styria (Steiermark) at the bottom.
