This lot is a letter sent in 1904 from M. W. Taylor Amusement Company to E. N. Merrill, Manager of the Coburn Opera House in Skowhegan, Maine. In the letter, Taylor suggests that he can provide his latest production, "Why Girls Go Wrong", and that both of them would prosper.
The original Coburn Opera House (Coburn Hall) was constructed in 1867 and had a large main auditorium that could seat approximately 1,200 people. Of special note is the fact that this letter would have been received less than two months before fire destroyed the building on Dec. 16, 1904. It's amazing that it has survived!
The typed letter is on mint-green, silver-edged M. W. Taylor Amusement Company letterhead and is approximately 11" tall by 8.5" wide. It has a rubber stamped signature. This letterhead is extremely scarce.
