Warm greetings from Japan. Thank you very much for visiting our listing.
This is K. Yairi DY-45 1973 Vintage Natural Acoustic Guitar.
Manufacturer: K. Yairi
Model: DY-45
Year: 1973
Situation: No problems for normal use.
This 1973 dreadnought features a solid spruce top, Jacaranda back and sides, and a mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard.
The gold hardware, fingerboard inlay, and rosette and purfling on the body top are abalone.
The condition shows signs of use and aging.
There are several suspected cracks on the sides, back, and headstock, a cloudy headstock, and a warped pickguard (no associated cracks).
Upon arrival, the bracing was adjusted (two minor areas), but no major repairs have been required, and the guitar is in good condition considering its age.
The sound, perhaps due to the Jacaranda back and sides, is a bit stiff, perhaps due to the long period of neglect.
When the previous owner checked it, it felt it sounded a bit brighter and softer with a slightly stronger picking stroke for about 10 minutes, which suggests it's a vintage guitar with plenty of potential.
The string height is set to 2.7 millimeter (.10 inches) for the 6th string and 2.0 millimeter (.07 inches) for the 1st string, which is standard these days.
The truss rod can still be closed, but the previous owner have a feeling it's nearing the end.
However, it is currently set in a nearly straight condition, and there are almost no signs of any springiness.
While current models are still being produced, those with a rosewood body are few in number, and prices are rising dramatically.
This is truly a romantic guitar.
