For sale is a gorgeous Mauviel Hammered Copper Rondeau with original lid and heavy bronze or brass handles. The hand polished copper has a beautiful shine with fabulous hammering, and these are hard to find in this condition. I've also seen this form referred to as a saute pan with double handles. It is in excellent condition and the original tin looks great, never used, and, of course, no copper showing. I noticed an imperfection on the lid when I was polishing it, nothing significant (see photo #21 for closeup). The tin on the interior lid has a small area that is slightly darker, and I think the label was attached there. The pan sits flat and the side handles are secured with 3 copper rivets each; the handle on the lid is secured with 2 copper rivets, one on each side. Both the base and lid are tin lined. The interior diameter is approx 28cm or 11", excluding the handles; with handles, the width is 38.5cm or 15"; height is 9.5cm or 3-5/8"; lid diameter is 30.2cm or 11-3/4". The base is marked Mauviel France. My caliper measures thickness just below top rim at 3.3-3.4 mm, and the total weight of the base + lid is 11 lbs 4 oz. I believe the rondeau was made by Mauviel in the 1990's, and has the nicer 3-rivet handles than today's model. Note that vintage copper pans will have signs of age and use from their previous lives, adding to their elegance, charm and character.
