***********The manual wind movement runs about 1.5 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 40 hour power reserve period. When the crown is pulled out to set the time and when it's pushed back in the dial will move slightly with it. And as clearly seen in picture 5 there is what looks like a dried liquid spot on the dial. Although not easily noticeable in darker settings it is more pronounced under bright light. A complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********
This seldom seen vintage 1970's Andre Bouchard diver has under the damaged crystal a lovely but not perfect glossy black dial as it shows wear. Additionally, as clearly seen in picture 5 there is what looks like a dried liquid spot that while difficult to see in darker lighting conditions it does show more prominently in bright light. The lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow on
only the dial, has aged gracefully. The black fat font countdown bezel, which shows considerable wear, rotates bidirectionally a bit stiffly. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with signs of oxidation. The
outer edge of the case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL
SHOCKRESISTANT ANTIMAGNETIC" with "100% WATERPROOF AND CONDENSATION
PROOF TESTED TO A DEPTH OF 600 FEET" stamped along the inner edge and
"300500" and "TK" stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is
stamped "T.K. Co" and "CASE MADE IN FRANCE." The crystal needs to be replaced as it shows cracks and deep gouges.
The 17 jewels ST 92 manual wind movement runs strong, albeit fast. After recently winding the crown 20 full revolutions the movement gained about 1.5 minutes by the end of its approximate 40 hour power reserve period. The non-screwdown crown winds smoothly and the time can be set without issue. When the crown is pulled out to set the time and when its pushed back in the dial will move slightly with it. A complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.
This
watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately
40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs.
Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of
the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness
measures approximately 11.5 mm. The lug to lug distance measures
approximately 48 mm.
A complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
