The new solo album from Dream Theater's exceptional singer James Labrie, featuring songwriting partner and keyboardist Matt Guillory. Fascinating melodic metal, brilliant, captivating and dynamic!
Mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Paradise Lost).
The man has one of the most impressive voices in the modern Prog Rock, James Labrie is known as the vocalist of the Prog giant Dream Theater. In 1992 he had joined the innovative five, since then he has recorded eleven studio albums with Dream Theater. But Labrie is not only in the spotlight for the New Yorkers, but also started an impressive solo career. "Static impulses", the current masterpiece, shows surprising new facets of musician James Labrie. "Matt and I wanted to make an aggressive album, something that is heavy," says James. "Nowadays, bands are far ahead that have a unique sound and still rock in many ways."
The singer describes the style of his self-produced new work as a "Gothenburg" metal with some progressive elements. Some listeners may be surprised that some songs contain an unmistakable growl. "This is Peter Wildoer, our drummer. He is not only a fantastic drummer, he can also really accelerate. "Wildoer is known for his efficient drum technique and played with various bands like Majestic, Arch Enemy, Old Man's Child, Pestilence as well as his own band. In addition to his role as a Kevboarder and co-author, Matt Guillory contributed all background vocals for the first time. The guitars were played by the Italian string as Marco Sfogli, the bass comes from Ray Riendeau (Halford). The complete material was written by Labrie and Matt Guilleroy for eleven years now.
Now the time for "Static impulses" has come, made excellently mixed and mastered by Jens Biarz in the Swedish fascination Street Studio (Opeth, Soilwork, Katatonia, etc.), by far the hardest and diverse of his solo discs, an exciting listening experience, extremely impressive in his catchy.
