The soulful and elegant pianist Sonny Clark brings his A-Game to My Conception, a program of all-Clark-original that was recorded in 1959, but was only published in 1979.
The pianists include Hardbop champions such as Hank Mobley on the tenor saxophone, Donald Byrd on the trumpet, Paul Chambers on the bass and Art Blakey on the drums. The highlights of this session include the lead-off track "Junka", the fiery brilliance of "Minor Meeting" and Hank Mobley's great solo on "Royal Flush".
The Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue series by Blue Note Records is produced by Joe Harley and contains purely analogous master bands, which is originally mastered by the original, 180 g vinyl new editions in deluxe packaging. The mastering comes from Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) and the vinyl is produced at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI).
