Exceptional and rare book on genius turn-of-the-century Finnish artist Helene Schjerfbeck, published for an exhibition focusing on spirituality in her works (the Finnish title of the book translates as "spirituality in art"). Schjerfbeck's paintings are at the pinnacle of early 20th-century work with psychological overtones (alongside others like Spilliaert and Munch), firmly placing her in the vanguard of Finnish Symbolism and in modern art in general. 57 works are profiled in full-page color plates and fully described, followed by a suite of 11 smaller works and a chronology.
