Welcome to Webberley

For over 40 years I have worked with antiques, specialising in 17th and 18th century British furniture with a particular love of early walnut

Our family name was Webberley and in the 18th and 19th centuries many Webberley men worked as cabinet makers and coach builders.  Henry Webberley-Smith built one of Queen Victoria's carriages and it is still used by the British Royal family today. When I was able to open my first shop it seemed right for it to carry that name

I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.  I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice

I have been selling on eBay since 2003 with 100% positive feedback and many returning regular clients

Queen Anne Candle Salt and Key Wall Hanging Elm Box c. 1710

A superb example in solid elm and with a fabulous colour and ‘skin’.

With wonderful rich warm tones and dark swirling grain to the elm and a deep natural patination which glows.

The oak lined drawer with turned wooden handle beneath a candle store with shaped sides apron and above this a lidded salt compartment.

This wall hanging cupboard was made by skilled hands in around 1710 and is in superior original condition with no damage or repairs.  Original timbers throughout.  The backboard has had some small felt pads applied to provide spacers and protection from the wall on which it was hung but these can be easily removed if not required.

A very tactile object, smooth as silk, absolutely marvellous colour.

In my view one of the best examples you will ever find.

Dimensions are:

16 inches high, 13.75 inches wide and 4 inches deep.

Full Refund Policy

We offer a no quibble refund of purchase price if you are unhappy for any reason with your purchase.  We simply ask that you let us know as soon as possible and that you return the item within 14 days.   Antique furniture allows us to care for our planet by buying beautiful quality craftsman made furniture, which will last hundreds of years and many more generations, rather than buying newly manufactured items which add to carbon emissions, cause de-forestation and are shipped over thousands of miles.

Our Furniture

Antique furniture has had a long life and history and any marks or matters of significance are described as accurately as possible.   We guarantee the quality of our items and the accuracy of our descriptions.  We sell with integrity and offer a truly personal and friendly service.

UK Deliveries and Collections

We will happily arrange delivery with our specialist couriers.  Delivery charges depend on the size of the item and where you live but are usually £30 to £80.  All of our couriers are Covid conscientious.

We package, insure and post small items.  For all other pieces we subcontract our deliveries and make no profit on these.   Most couriers send just one driver with your items but if you cannot assist with lifting, we can arrange for an extra pair of hands for an additional sum.

You are also welcome to collect in person or to send your own courier.

Most couriers offer reduced rates for second items to the same address.

For larger items and deliveries going to the far West,

far North, Scotland, Wales and non UK mainland, charges will be higher so please do ask for a quote.

Overseas Shipping

We ship worldwide and have regular clients in the US, Canada, all over Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  International shipping can be expensive and we can obtain quotations for you from shippers with whom we have negotiated good rates.   eBay does not allow us to enter a range of prices so we have put in a sufficient amount for most of Ireland, France and Germany.

Payment

We accept cheques, bank transfers, debit cards and credit cards.  Please message us for any further information.

Please save Webberley Antiques to your favourites list - and thank you for taking the time to read to the end!
