Item description:
Wonderful sculpture in richly enamelled ceramic, glazed stoneware entirely hand-decorated, depicting a lady with a large skirt holding an infant in her arms, equipped with a black lacquered wooden base and dating back to the first decades of the 20th century. The sculpture is signed on the back, under the bench on which the woman is sitting, "Guido Cacciapuoti", famous Italian sculptor and ceramist , handwritten by the artist with a metal pen and engraved in the ceramic mixture. The woman's full skirt, richly pleated, is particularly beautiful; the faces of the subjects depicted are wonderful and extremely expressive; and the colors, soft and rich in nuance, are also very beautiful.
Useful information for the evaluation of the object :
From an online search, we found that Guido Cacciapuoti boasts numerous auction results, and the four highest results we found range from €3,750 to €19,000, plus 25-30% buyer's premium, for a large group of red-enameled angelfish resting on a large wooden base, 180 cm tall. We also found many of his sculptures for sale on major online art and antiques marketplaces, with prices ranging from a minimum of €500-600 for smaller pieces up to €4,000-5,000. Finally, in the first two photos, immediately below this description, we've included a lady similar to ours, listed for €1,200-1,300, while a larger pair, a lady and a dandy, very similar in style, are listed for €1,800-2,400.
Artist and/or manufacturer information:
Guido Cacciapuoti, born in Naples in 1892, comes from an ancient family of majolica makers, from whom he learned the secrets of ceramic art. In 1927, he founded "Grès e ceramiche d'arte" in Milan with his brother. A highly talented modeler, he gained recognition for his beautiful sculptures, especially animal subjects. In 1930, due to the premature death of his brother, he became sole owner of the company. The factory immediately enjoyed great success and became internationally renowned, especially for the sculptures created by Guido Cacciapuoti, who died in 1953 and is now considered one of the most important Italian ceramists of the first half of the 20th century. In the last two photos, below this description, we have provided historical information about the Cacciapuoti factory and a biography of Guido Cacciapuoti for those who wish to learn more.

OUR COMMERCIAL POLICY
Aware that we operate in the eBay market, our prices are often lower than the prices at which very similar objects are offered on other online sales platforms, the prices at which they are offered by art galleries in cities such as Rome, New York or London and also the best auction results achieved by similar objects, which, overall, can give an indication of the value of the object, while lower auction results or sales at low prices, by inexperienced sellers who do not know the real value of the object, should, in our opinion, be considered as a stroke of luck for the buyer rather than an indication of the value of the object. The price we ask is always the lowest possible considering how much was paid for the object and the eBay commissions (for the sale, payment and any currency exchange: from a minimum of 15% to a maximum of 21%, depending on the country in which the object was sold) because we prefer to retain many customers by earning less on the single object, focusing on quantity.

For each object there may be multiple advertisements in different countries: USA, Italy, France, United Kingdom, etc. Any price differences are due only to changes in the exchange rate of the various currencies between when we made the advertisement and when you see it.

The cost of packaging is also calculated in the shipping costand everything has increased by 19% because both ebay and paypal also take fees on the shipping cost.

OUR SHIPMENTS:
.Our shipments cost a little more than the average, but they are all shipments with professional packaging. Double box with a lot of bubble wrap around the object and a lot of soft material in the large cavities on all sides between the two boxes. This means that the package is much larger and heavier and therefore the cost of shipping increases, not to mention all the work necessary to carry out a similar packaging and the cost of the various materials used.
