This is an original, Type I photograph of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, taken as they arrived at Washington D.C.’s Mayflower Hotel for the annual cabinet dinner on March 4, 1936. It is a clear, rare photo taken towards the end of FDR’s first term as the country still struggled with the Depression. This rare type I original has a clear credit and caption on the reverse.

This is an interesting photo because it does not show the individual to FDR's left that would have been assisting him to stand due to his disability.    Back then, the press was very sensitive to public figures, not to illustrate what could be perceived but some as a potential weakness.    The look on Eleanor's face is also interesting.

PSA authenticated as Type 1 photograph.
