Chinese Cloisonné Enamel Swivel Table Mirror, Large, Early 20th Century

Description: 21.5 inches tall, Chinese vanity mirror set in a bronze frame that suspends and spins from two cloisonne arms.   The cloisonne cradle and turned pedestal are filled with jewel-like enamels. Designs include intricate florals, various Chinese symbols, bats, and Phoenix birds. Blood reds, cobalt, royal blues, white, pinks, oranges and pale yellow.  Many designs are shaded in two colors.

The mirrors themselves are etched from behind. One side has lively, reflective bubbles that encircle the mirror. The other side has two chirping birds, one is perched on a branch of cherry blossoms, the second in flight. The design and placement of the branch and birds recalls Chinese scroll paintings.

I located another example that was also 21.5” tall and it  brought $2200.00 at auction this past year.

The mirror and pedestal detach and will be shipped detached.
