In the spring of 1970 I was a college student. Being an avid hunter I wanted a Ruana knife. I hitch hiked to Bonner, Montana. The person that I met at the Ruana Knife shop was Rudy Ruana. I asked Rudy whether or not he had any knives for sale. Rudy stated "I can make an order for the knife I wanted or just by chance I have two matching knives that a customer requested but never picked up." Rudy Ruana asked if I would be interested in looking at them. Rudy brought both knives out to the counter. Two beautiful matching knives and their sheaths. I asked how much they cost and he gave me the price for the both of them. I explained I did not have that much money in cash for both knives. Today I wish I did have the cash for both knives, but I did not. Rudy and I came to an agreement on the cost for one of the knives and it was mine. Rudy did not really want to split up this beautiful matched pair of knives, but I think he had a soft heart and did me a favor. Out there is a matching knife just like this one I am advertising.
I used this knife for only hunting purposes during three hunting seasons on our family ranch. Then I was gifted a knife and never used my Ruana again. Why? Because I liked it too much. The knife and sheath is in as perfect shape as it was when purchased the knife and its sheath in 1970. This knife is one of my treasured possessions in life. A true collectors piece.
Blade length is 3 15/15" and the handle length is 4 1/2". Over all length is a 1/16" short of 8 1/2". The Ruana knife and sheath come with the green canvas knife case. If you want more photos or have questions please ask.
