An impressive Edwardian large brass antique chandelier by G.E.C with six curved arms, each with scroll and gadroon detail. The beautifully made chandelier has a shaped body with gadroon moulding, and a bulbous centre, finished with finial underneath. When illuminated, the original aged brass finish glows beautifully.
The light hangs on a 33 cm long chain and comes with its original 14 cm wide ceiling rose.
The reverse of the ceiling rose is stamped
'Made in England, G.E.C'.
The overall height including the chain and ceiling rose is 107cm (which can be shortened)
The light has been rewired and is in working order.

G.E.C (General Electric Company) was established in London in the 1880s by Gustav Binswanger. By the 1890s the company had expanded opening new factories manufacturing lighting, and exporting around the world. They was known for their quality lighting, and the demand for lighting made G.E.C's fortune.
During the First World War, G.E.C was heavily involved in the war effort. They supplied radios, signal lamps, and the arc-lamp carbons used in searchlights. During the second World War, G.E.C developed cavity magnetron for radar.
