Attractive George V Maundy coin set from 1924- Very close to Uncirculated - Mintage of only 1515 sets.

This set is presented in small storage box, and coins housed in Quadrum square capsule with Maundy Coin template..

Maundy coins from pre 1820, were also used as circulation coins. It was not until after this date that coin sizes became standard, and Maundy sets were issued separately from circulation coinage.

The first 'Maundy Set' was undated and during the reign of Charles II - which was presented by the King (to whom?), in what has been described by some historians, as a PR stunt.
