Item description: 
A rare and unique large majolica ceramic sculpture with a richly glazed finish, depicting a wild boar cub, created by the prominent Sardinian artist and ceramist, Emilia Palomba, who trained in Rome, in the second half of the 20th century. Signed under the base with her signature trademark, consisting of her initials, the letters "EP." The acronym isn't very accurate in this case, but it's certainly easily recognizable to those familiar with the Emilia Palomba trademark. Furthermore, our sculpture, called "Wild Boar Cub," was also published in the artist's official catalog. A large and heavy object, considering the sculpture weighs over 3 kg. The artistic quality of this entirely hand-sculpted work is of the highest standard; each lamellae that make up the upper part of the boar's fur are handcrafted using gouges, spatulas, and other ceramic tools, a very long and complex process that requires considerable effort.
Useful information for the evaluation of the object :
From our online research, we know that Emilia Palomba boasts significant auction results, especially in the lighting category. Two pairs of lamps were estimated at €3,000-€3,500 each at the "L'Art de vivre en mer dans le cadre de la Monaco Classic Week" auction on September 12, 2015, at the "Hôtel de Ventes de Monte-Carlo" in Monte Carlo, Monaco. These were lot 99, titled "Lampes (c. 2000)" and lot 100, titled "Lampes, imitation d'un coquillage (c. 2000)." We also found our own sculpture, in a polychrome version, offered on 1stDibs for €930, down from its original price of €1,600. Finally, again on 1stDibs, we found a ceramic mirror, albeit a rather small one, selling for €1,400, a single gilded ceramic lamp selling for over €3,900, and another shell-shaped lamp selling for over €2,800. These findings provide a general idea of the importance of Emila Palomba's works and a more specific idea of the value of similar pieces.

Emilia Palomba was born in Cagliari in the mid-1930s. After the war, she attended the Academy of Art in Rome and in 1958, also in Cagliari, opened a workshop for the production of artistic ceramics. Her creations, inspired by ancient Sardinian textile traditions, evolved from the late 1970s into a more mature production of furnishing accessories, which she presented at various craft shows, achieving ever-increasing success. Aware that we operate in the eBay market, our prices are often lower than the prices at which very similar objects are offered on other online sales platforms, the prices at which they are offered by art galleries in cities such as Rome, New York or London and also the best auction results achieved by similar objects, which, overall, can give an indication of the value of the object, while lower auction results or sales at low prices, by inexperienced sellers who do not know the real value of the object, should, in our opinion, be considered as a stroke of luck for the buyer rather than an indication of the value of the object. The price we ask is always the lowest possible considering how much was paid for the object and the eBay commissions (for the sale, payment and any currency exchange: from a minimum of 15% to a maximum of 21%, depending on the country in which the object was sold) because we prefer to retain many customers by earning less on the single object, focusing on quantity.

For each object there may be multiple advertisements in different countries: USA, Italy, France, United Kingdom, etc. Any price differences are due only to changes in the exchange rate of the various currencies between when we made the advertisement and when you see it.

Double box with a lot of bubble wrap around the object and a lot of soft material in the large cavities on all sides between the two boxes. This means that the package is much larger and heavier and therefore the cost of shipping increases, not to mention all the work necessary to carry out a similar packaging and the cost of the various materials used.
