Game Used Antique Riddell chinstrap. This chinstrap was worn, used, and signed by Houston Oilers All World receiver Charley Hennigan. As you may know, Hennigan was the top and arguably the finest receiver in the AFL and should be in the Hall of Fame. Disgusting that he isn’t. He played seven (7) seasons - the last two on a bad knee and with concussions taking its toll on him, however he was a 5X Pro Bowl player and was All Pro three (3) times. In 1961 while wearing this chinstrap, Hennigan totaled 1746 receiving yards, 12 touchdown, and averaged 125 receiving yards per game. Hennigan still holds several receiving records and scored the very first touchdown in Houston Oilers history.
This is a chinstrap that was used in the 1961 season by Hennigan and was part of a collection of Antique Game Used Signed Chinstraps. The original owner would ask players for their chinstrap following a game. His collection spanned from 1955 though the 1961 seasons. Not only is this chinstrap original and signed by Hennigan, it is in phenominal condition. We have not modified or changed the chinstrap in any manner including cleaning or treating it with any cleaners or conditioners.
