This Buy it Now auction is for an American Army Gas Can. It is old and in Used Condition, and it has been repainted. This is an Army marked Gas Can with a "USA" marking on one side for United Stated Army, and the other side has a "QMC" for Quartermaster Corps. There are also "G" Gasoline markings. During the Korean War Army Gas Cans changed to just having a "US" marking on the sides. WW2 era Navy gas cans are marked "USN" on the sides. The Marine Corps cans are marked "USMC" on the sides. The gas can for sale here has the WW2 era "USA" and "QMC" Army markings. These stand for Quartermaster Corps Unites States Army. The manufacturer and date markings are on the bottom of this can. There is a "RHEEM" manufacturer name marking. There is also a "20 5.2 43" marking that means, 20 Liters or 5.2 Gallons, and the 1943 date. There is no "ICC 5" is for Interstate Commerce Commission zone 5 on this can. This can does not have the typical "ICC 5" marking.
The Gas can weighs around 15 LBS and is around 14 Inches by 19 Inches by 7 Inches in size. It cost me $37.76 to mail one of these type of Gas Cans to South Carolina. Expect
to pay around $40.00 to $80.00 for the shipping cost within the United
States. Shipping prices quotes are just a rough guess. The cost of
shipping has gone up over the years. The British sent spies in 1939 to steal a German Truck that had three German style Gas Cans. The British gave one of the three German cans to the American War Department in the Summer of 1940. The British like to call the Germans "Jerry", and that is why these copies of the German fuel cans are called "Jerry Cans". This item is old and in Used Condition.
Do not try to keep gasoline in this old collectable. If you want a can
to keep gas in, go to Wal-Mart and buy a new "Made in China" gas can.
This is being sold as an old collectable only. Most
people with vintage Military vehicle collectable cars, do not try to
keep liquid in the old relic cans. They put them on their vintage
vesicles for looks only, and don't try to use them for their original
purpose.
Condition:
For
Legal reasons, the items in this listing are stated as "Used
Condition". What is a "Used Condition" item? It is an item that is in
"Poor Terrible Condition". They are better condition than "Dug Relic
Condition" items. Items are no longer like how they were the day they
were first manufactured. Items have been used by someone Decades ago in
another Century. Items will have defects and damage from having been
used. The older something is, the worse the condition will be. Wool
items will have Moth holes. Expect Moth damage to old wool items.
Expect clothing to have dirt stains, frayed cuffs and collars. Expect there to be Mildew and Mold damage stains. Expect
wrinkles. Expect buttons to be broken or missing. Expect zippers to
be broken and non functional. Expect size tags to be missing or
damaged. Expect leather items to be dried out and cracked. Hats will
be crushed and bent out of shape. Do not expect clothing to fit you, it
is not your size. Expect oxidation and rust on the metal parts.
Expect items to be faded from having been exposed to sun light. Expect
metal items to have dents, scratches, and paint loss. Expect items to
have microscopic fractures when looked at under a microscope. Expect
Electronic items to no longer work or be functional. These items are
old and things
slowly get destroyed by time. Please do not expect something in "New
Condition", or "Good Condition". These items are in "Used Condition",
and are Relics from another Century. The vintage
items I list for sale are not wearable clothing, or usable
items. They are sold as old collectibles only. If you are expecting
something that is old and used to still be in nice shape, do not buy
this item. I am trying to be 100% Honest, and Accurately Describe the
Crappy Condition of the Old Relics I have for sale. If you want
something that is in nice shape, than go to a store and buy something
that is new. These items are old and damaged from use.
