***********While the AS 1906 automatic movement runs strong it loses about 2.5 minutes by the end of its approximate 45 hour power reserve period. After winding the crown the watch tends to need to be gently shaken and or spun face down to get the movement going. Both the day and date wheels roll over as they should. The time can be set without issue and the crown winds smoothly. A complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.***********

This vintage 1969 Bulova SkyStar World Time diver has the seldom seen dial that showcases the partnership between TruAde and Bulova.  The TruAde Company, which created the non-carbonated orange soda drink Tru-Ade in the late 1930's, collaborated with Bulova in the late 1960's in a marketing effort to help revitalize its brand.  While the company managed to hobble through the 1960's and 70's it was ultimately sold in 1982 before going bankrupt in 1984.

The matte black "T SWISS T" signed dial is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows age-related wear and dust/debris lying on its surface.  In my humble opinion it presents markedly better in person.  Majority of the imperfections seen are on the crystal.  The lume on the dial and hands remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light.  The stainless steel bezel rotates a bit stiffly and the faded acrylic insert, which shows considerable wear, has aged to a subtle blue hue.  The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation.  The outer edge of the case back is stamped "BULOVA" and "STAINLESS STEEL CASE" with "J41732" and "M9" stamped along the inner edge.  The inside of the case back is stamped "W. GERMANY" and "2928."  The crystal needs to be replaced and the crystal ring cleaned during service.

The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "M9" and "11 BKACB" stamped AS 1906 automatic movement with semi-quickset date function runs strong, albeit slow, and both the day and date wheels roll over at 12 am.  After winding the crown the watch tends to need to be gently shaken and or spun face down to get the movement going.  The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached.  The time can be set without issue and the non-screwdown, signed crown winds smoothly.  After recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions the movement lost about 2.5 minutes by the end of its approximate 45 hour power reserve period.  A complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.

This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38 mm including the crown and approximately 17.5 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm.  Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11.5mm.  The lug to lug distance measures approximately 40 mm.

A complete overhaul is recommended.  As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.

Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given.  And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
