This is “Air (Ailes)”, a poetic and refined oil chamber kaleidoscope by Japanese artist Mayu Sasaki. Inspired by the emotional memories tied to the sky, the piece explores light, space, and personal reflection through a highly conceptual design.

🌌 Visual Experience:
Though technically a V-shaped 2-mirror system, the third side is not blacked out but strategically reflective, creating an effect close to a 3-mirror scope.

Light from the front (blue side) casts a blue tint over the entire image

Light from the side (clear section) highlights white floating objects with vivid contrast
📷 Body Design:
The outer body is wrapped in a photograph of the sky taken by the artist herself—an artistic interpretation of “a sky only I remember, and feelings only the sky knows.”
🖋 Artist’s Note:
“I created this kaleidoscope with the theme of ‘memories of the sky.’ The fleeting and personal emotions attached to twilight skies guided the design. The name ‘Air’ is read as ‘Ailes’ in French, to evoke both atmosphere and wings.”
