Original illustration signed art by studio card pioneer Rosalind Welcher, purchased from an estate auction. Paint on art board. Vintage c.1960s-70s. Item will be shipped in a cellophane sleeve inside a large rigid envelope.

Condition: Light wear and discolorations (see photos). A little black paint loss on the left eye. Foxing on the background. Light wear, tape marks, paint, and discolorations on the back.  Condition commensurate with age/storage/handling/use. The pictures are part of my description. Please look carefully at ALL photos and ask questions as needed.

Welcher and her husband Fred Slavic founded PANDA PRINTS, INC in 1946, and created books, cards, and other illustrated products until 1977. In 1952, an article in the Portsmouth Times stated that they were generating $7,000,000 revenue yearly from their studio cards. She passed away in 2023 at the age of 102. Disclaimer: I'm doing my best to correctly identify the tools Welcher used to create this piece (such as pen/paint/pencil/pastel, etc.), but since I wasn't there when she made them, there is a possibility that I have misidentified one or more. Thanks for understanding!

I have many pieces of Welcher's work listed, so please check out my shop if you're interested, and contact me if you'd like to buy in bulk!

Please be sure to look at all the pictures carefully before buying. I try hard to take great pictures that accurately describe the items I am selling.

I am a retired teacher working from home and enjoy rehoming vintage and pre-loved items. Many (but not all) of the items I sell are purchased at thrift stores, garage sales/estate sales, etc.  Unless otherwise stated, they are used/pre-owned. Feel free to ask me any questions.

If there is an issue with your purchase, please contact me so I can make it right for you. Customer satisfaction is very important to me, as evidenced by my positive feedbacks (which I would appreciate if you are satisfied with your purchase and my prompt service).

I try to make sure all orders are sent out the same day I receive payment for the item or the following business day.

I add to my store regularly, so I hope that you will consider following me and checking out all of the cool treasures I find during my shopping excursions. Thank you so much! :D
