P. Somniferum Var. Giganteum Poppy seeds are suitable for planting indoors and outdoors. These poppies come in vibrant red, pink, purple, and multicolor blooms, adding a colorful display to your garden.

Poppy seeds require a cold period of time before germination (known as "Cold Stratification"), Poppy seeds require a cool period of 2-4 weeks to break dormancy, and some gardeners choose to cold stratify their seeds. P. Somniferum Poppies do not need any heat to germinate. Heat and hot temps should be avoided during the germination period. Avoid plating if the temps are already hot outside where you plan to grow them.
As P. Somniferum Poppies are technically "Wildflowers" and wildflower seeds can stay dormant for very long periods of time until they sense the conditions are correct for them to germinate and start growing. Attempting to germinate them during with/around heat will usually result in low germination.

Plan before planting, to plant for success, Failure to plan may result in crop failure.

All seeds purchased from us after the 20th March of this year (2025) will be fully pre-stratified, all of our seeds in general have been kept in cool-to-freezing temps to prepare them for the season, stratifying seeds ensures a better chance for a higher germination rate vs keeping them at room temps before germination.
