This listing is for an original, authentic, black hardcover Biltmore Dairy Farms Milkman delivery ledger book with customers listed who lived in the towns of:
- Spartanburg, South Carolina
- Inman, South Carolina
- Chesnee, South Carolina
There is an orange and white sticker on the black cover. It measures 9" by 15.5" and is about 1" thick.
This listing also includes a few related papers from Biltmore Dairy Farms as shown in the photos. They were inserted in the book as notes and placeholders such as a paper the customer could use to check off dairy items they wanted the milkman to deliver.
The pages in this ledger have columns with all the different dairy products Biltmore Dairy Farms sold such as all types of milk, cream, juice, cheese, eggs, butter, bacon, ice cream, sour cream. There's a column for charges, credits and tax. Handwriting and notes throughout in various places.
This ledger is from the estate of a man who collected dairy items. I've not seen any others for sale like this from Biltmore Dairy Farms. I have two and are selling them separately in two different listings.

As background - George Vanderbilt established Biltmore Dairy operations at his estate in Asheville, North Carolina for three main reasons: to supply dairy products to Biltmore House, to provide an example to others on how to run a successful farm, and to generate income through commercial product sales. The dairy closed permanently in 1985 when they sold to Pet Inc. I'm told a dairy building is now used for their winery.
