Bank Negara Malaysia is issuing commemorative coins in conjunction with the 60^th Anniversary of National Archives of Malaysia on 4 December 2017.

The commemorative coins were launched by Datuk Azemi Abdul Aziz, Director General of National Archives of Malaysia today.

Specifications of the commemorative coins are as follows:

1. Coloured Silver Commemorative Coin (proof)
   
   The proof coloured coin is made of Fine Silver with 99.9 purity and weighs 31.10 grams. It has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM230 a piece. The mintage quantity is 500 pieces.

2. Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U) Commemorative Coin
   
   The Nordic Gold (B.U) coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM10 each. The mintage quantity is 10,000 pieces.

Note: Prices stated above are subject to GST of 6%.

These commemorative coins are also available in a Set of 2. The Set of 2 comprises the coloured silver proof and nordic gold proof coins. This set will be sold at RM280 per set (price is subject to GST of 6%) with 700 sets available.

Coin Design

The design descriptive of the commemorative coins is as follows:

1. Obverse
   
   The words 60^th ANNIVERSARY OF NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF MALAYSIA is depicted clockwise on half the circumference of the coin. The orange and gold coloured anniversary logo at the centre of the coin represents the celebration of the National Archives of Malaysia’s diamond jubilee.

2. Reverse
   
   The image at the centre of the coin depicts the logo of National Archives of Malaysia where pieces of paper are stacked together, representing national documents and records. The star in the middle of the paper signifies the star of the national flag, a symbol of Malaysian unity. The words Arkib Negara Malaysia in both roman and jawi script encircling the Archive’s logo show their responsibility in safekeeping the national documents and records. Sixty dentils inscribed along the coin represent the Archive’s 60 years of establishment. The name “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the commemorative coins is featured on the upper circumference of the coin, while the face value of the coin is depicted at the lower circumference of the coin.
