Fabulous enamelled and vitrified cast ceramic box, bon bon holder, entirely hand-decorated with floral and geometric decorations on a white background, full art deco style, dating back to around 1920, barely legible mark under the base, but clearly decipherable, in underglaze green with crown and letters "AG" and the writing "Pordenone" immediately below. Made by Andrea Galvani, for the Galvani Pordenone manufacture, one of the first brands used, rare and little known.
Useful information for the evaluation of the object:
We have put in the photos below this description some of the numerous auction prices of the Galvani manufacture, to give a general idea of its value, with plates, vases, boxes, biscuit jars, services, tureens, sculptures and many other objects all priced by a minimum of €300-400 for the little ones up to maximum estimates of €3,000-5,000.
Final thoughts on the object:
The enamel decorations in light relief, hand-made in second firing, are wonderful. The shaded yellow band made with airbrush inside the bowl is also beautiful, also note the shape of the cylindrical knob in two sections, again in full deco style.
Information on artist and/or manufacturer:
The "Galvani" ceramic factory in Pordenone was founded in 1811 by Giuseppe Galvani. In 1911 the management of the factory passed to Andrea Galvani. Under the artistic direction of Angelo Simonetto the factory abandoned traditional production and began to create works with a modernist flavor, often decorated with airbrush designs and the use of masks. , which soon made it famous worldwide for the beauty and quality of the artistic ceramics produced, especially in the futurist style. In the last photos we have put historical notes of the manufacturing with most of the brands used, but the list is obviously not exhaustive and our brand is not present, being probably one of the first used by the manufacturing.
