The U-Shaped Silicon Molybdenum (MoSi2) Heating Element is constructed primarily from molybdenum disilicide. When this U-shaped element is heated to high temperatures in an oxidizing atmosphere, its surface develops a dense, quartz-like glass film that excellently shields it from further oxidation. This distinctive feature provides the element with exceptional high-temperature oxidation resistance. Capable of withstanding temperatures up to 3272°F (1800°C) in an oxidizing atmosphere, it operates effectively within a temperature range of 932-3092°F (500-1700°C).
