What is 1st Edition ?

A first edition is the first book printed.
In order to print a book, a printing plate is made. The first printing plate made is called the "first edition'' (also called the first edition), and the first edition printed for the first time is called the ``first printing'' (first printing). This first edition is called the "first edition".
The number of copies printed using the same first edition increases with each reprint, such as "first edition second printing" and "first edition third printing." Even though these are written as "first editions," they are not considered "first editions" in the used book market. Why only the 1st Edition ?


So why are first edition books so popular?
