Class D active module for subwoofer enclosure

While in the past, very large amplifiers and subwoofers were installed visibly and very prominently in the trunk, today hidden components are more popular in modern vehicles. However, these have to be much more compact and efficient. A good and proven solution for more bass in the car is active housing subs, where the integrated subwoofer is powered by an active module already installed in the housing at the factory. The powerful and highly efficient digital POWER4 and POWER2 retrofit modules with real RMS wattage and ingenious connection features for many high-end applications are now providing a solution.

 

Depending on the subwoofer installed, you can choose between a 4 or 2 Ω version, otherwise the modules are identical. With a whopping 460 W/RMS for the 4 Ω and 475 W/RMS for the 2 Ω model, even very power-hungry subs can be powered - and with an impressively high efficiency of up to 84%. Such modules can only achieve this through advanced Class D technology; conventional Class A/B amplifiers are completely inadvisable, as they consume much more power at high power and therefore overheat quickly and require much larger cable cross-sections. Brilliant - a hidden 3-way limiter switch can also be used to optimally supply smaller subwoofers and protect them from excessive power. Both modules fit into all passive housings from ESX, Musway and HiFonics with Quick Connect terminals in exchange. Installation and connection is extremely simple!

 

The connection to modern car audio systems in particular often presents a major challenge. Thanks to advanced EPS PRO technology, it is possible to simulate three different input resistances, which means that the high-level inputs can be perfectly adapted to the radio in the vehicle without triggering an error diagnosis in the vehicle. On top of that, the input sensitivity can be easily switched from 15 to 40 volts.
