This is a cost effective alternative to a drum or sieve, but it does require more user maintenance.

This 40 mesh version has a larger size hole size than the 50 & 60 mesh filters I also have listed.

As an example my pond is running 5000lph with a medium stock of koi and feeding twice a day. I clean the 40 mesh filter roughly every 3-4 days, but if you have a higher flow rate or larger stock of Koi it can be less.

As with any new filter there will be a period of more frequent cleaning as you remove the bulk of the particles.

I can only provide my experience, I cannot guarantee cleaning intervals you will see.

I also have a 50 and 60 grade filters listed they are a finer mesh, if you have already have clear water this may be the better option for you, but if you are unsure I would start with the 40 and then progress to the 60 at a future date.

Now works with both gravity and pump fed systems.

This item was born from a request from Crazyforkoiandgoldfish on Youtube. Please check his channel for a demonstration of a prototype.

The request was originally for an alternative mesh grade to the beer filter.

However, I didn't really like the fit or the flow direction and improper fit of those, so I made my own alternative design.

On gravity sysyems, similar to the beer filters, you need to monitor this filter!

If it gets fully blocked, it will restrict flow!

Time to blockage is dependent on the flow rate of your pump and how many particles are in the water.

For pump fed systems, the overflow feature is retained, when the filter is blocked.

They are 3D printed from high quality Black PETG and hand assembled.

The stainless steel mesh is 40 catching wast down to 400 micron in size.

The design collects dirt on the outside, which allows easy cleaning.

You can use cleaning pipe with it in place, so any loose particles after cleaning the pod do not make it back to the pond.

It does not require any additional fixtures, just pushes into place. ( providing your pipe is not massively misaligned!)

They are a long print and hand assembled. So I will only list what I have already made, so you won't be waiting long for it after purchase.

I use PETG for the housing, which has been proven fish safe in bottom drains, etc. I order the stainless steel mesh from a UK supplier.

The same mesh has been used in 2 ponds for 6 months with no issues to for the fish, so I have no concerns with it. But please make sure you are comfortable with the entire filter before use.

I expect people to sterilise the filter to their own expectations before first use.

Obviously, I can not accept returns after use!

Any questions, please feel free to message.

Happy koi keeping!

Thanks,

Ian
