***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - Although the AS 1893 automatic movement runs strong the minute and hour hands do not want to move which suggests the cannon pinion needs tightening. Additionally the date wheel does not roll over until approximately 3:15 am. Given these issues a complete overhaul is required.***********

This seldom seen vintage 1960/70's Lord Elgin Aquamaster has a silver satin "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows age-related wear.  The original tritium on the dial and hands, which emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching golden buttermilk hue.  As clearly seen in the pictures the dial lume dots at 3, 9 and 12 o'clock are missing.  This particular model never came with a rotating bezel.  The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with visually insignificant signs of oxidation.  Between the lugs at 6 o'clock is the stamping "485 ANC."  The outside of the case back is stamped "WATERPROOF   AUTOMATIC   AQUAMASTER."  The inside of the case back is stamped "STAINLESS STEEL" followed by "SWISS,""ELGIN" and "2366."  The crystal shows light scratching.

The 25 jewels unadjusted Swiss "ELGIN 994" stamped AS 1893 automatic movement with semi-quickset date function runs strong.  However, the minute and hour hands do not want to move which suggests the cannon pinion needs tightening.  Additionally, the date wheel does not roll over until approximately 3:15 am.  The semi-quickset date function, which should work by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached, instead works by moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 24 and 3:15 marks.  After recently winding the signed, non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an approximate 41 hour power reserve period.  The crown winds smoothly.  Given the issues mentioned a complete overhaul is required.

This watch measures approximately 34 mm excluding the crown, approximately 35 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 7 mm.  Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9 mm.

A complete overhaul is required.  As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.  For this watch that time is now.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.

Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given.  And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.

Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.  Thanks for looking!
