***********The manual wind movement keeps accurate time over an approximate 41 hour power reserve period and the quickset date function works without issue. When setting the time and winding the crown there is a bit of tension and feels as though the movement is slightly loose. Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********
This vintage 1960\70's Jubilee has a black "T SWISS T" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows light wear. The lume, which emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. As most clearly seen in picture 9 the lume at the base of the hour hand shows slight deterioration. In person and on the wrist this lume deterioration is visually imperceptible. The black bezel shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. As seen in the last picture there are numbers lightly inscribed onto the backside of the top left lug. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "JUBILEE SKIN DIVER ALL STAINLESS STEEL" with "JIM" followed by "A SPECIAL GUY" and "BEV" stamped in the center. The crystal needs to be replaced.
While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this particular watch is torqued too tight for me to remove. Based on several examples I've owned the movement is likely a 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "JUBILEE BY WITTNAUER WATCH CO. INC.,""1101" and "1954-2" stamped manual wind movement with quickset date function. It keeps accurate time and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by simply pressing in on the crown (if the time is on the backside of the day then it's necessary to manually roll over a new date and then use the quickset function to quickly scroll through the date wheel). Alternately a new date can be manually rolled over and then by repeatedly moving the hour hand between the 20 and 24 hour marks the desired date can been reached. After winding the non-screwdown crown 30 full revolutions the movement had an approximate 41 hour power reserve period. When setting the time and winding the crown there is a bit of tension and feels as though the movement is slightly loose. Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.
This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm.
A complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given.
