The Matrix is probably the single most surprised I have been in the movies.  Opening in the spring (when spring releases were expected to produce lower box office numbers) we took a chance to go see it.  Keanu was not at his zenith by any stretch.  I had zero expectations for this movie.  Then IT happened.

The first scene.  Trinity rises into the pose on this figure, 360 shot, and I immediately sat up and paid attention.  What is this???

Bullet-time, red pill, blue pill and one of my single favorite action pieces in any movie - Morpheus rescue.  Beginning with "Guns, lots of guns."  The score of them walking into the lobby, the lobby shoot-out, the elevator, the rooftop scene (BULLET-TIME!!!!), the helicoptor rescue, Morpheus running, and all the way to the helicopter crash. I have watched this scene countless times.  I still use it to test speaker set-ups.

What is the Matrix?  Mr. Anderson and Trinity can help you with the answer.
