WWII Original German mess kit. Dated 1943, this is an enameled steel mess kit, not aluminum. I repaired the lid and repainted the exterior with 1944 Militaria mess kit paint. I would not recommend eating out of either the lid or base (the 80 year old enamel isnt food safe anymore).
