This marvelous antique watering can is created in gorgeous continental silver and is either French or Hanau in origin.  This beautiful watering can surface has a curlique with lattice design and appears to have a niello application.  The long spout has small holes that allow water to pass.  There is a stationary handle on top and a curled "D" handle on the side.  The top is half open.  The hallmarks are: Crown over a N, which may indicate Lille France [Tardy's, page 155], a bird in flight and three hearts in a circle.  There is no Minerva or Boar's head or any other marks.  Measurements for this fabulous creation are:  Height from top to bottom including handle=1-1/8 inches, Width from side to side including spout and handle=2-1/4 inches, Diameter=1 inch.  This marvelous miniature silver watering can has been well cared for, gently displayed and is in excellent antique condition, free from damage or repairs.  There is a black niello design which has some losses and there are light scratches on the rims, but they do not diminish the beauty of this lovely piece.  It is the perfect addition to your antique miniatures collection or for your doll house, particularly if you like the French influence!
