To attach the gas tank skid plate to the frame on 1976-1986 Jeep CJ's.

Yes it's overkill to attach the gas tank skid with Grade 8 hardware but it's a Jeep and you never know what you might rip off it next. Plus they look good and they're way more corrosion resistant than the stock hardware so you won't be fighting to get them off the next time you need to drop your tank.
